Al Knight's
interest in photography began at age 14 when his father purchased for him a
Bolsey 35 mm camera as a Christmas present. The gift preceded a family
trip to Florida where Al photographed the adventure. He still
possesses early1955 images of the Key West Highway and the now historic
seven-mile railroad bridge, the first Sunshine Skyway, Cypress Gardens, Fort
Myers, Weeki Wachee Springs, and Daytona Beach.
Some of the very early examples of
Al's work appear on this page.
His first photographic shows were
for his church, the local Grange, and school. Since then he has been
hooked and exhibits in the Midwest.
From that first all manual camera
that provided marginal results at best, to early SLR cameras to the latest
and most powerful digital photographic and printing equipment, Al is still
looking for ways to improve his self-taught skills.
Al and his wife travel extensively,
having been in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, the West Indies, England,
Ireland,
Scotland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Panama, Costa Rica and New Zealand.
His photographic collection reflects
many of these travel destinations.
